Mr. Keith Coates earned his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Bowie State in
1979 and his Masters Equivalency in Secondary Education, Trinity University.
Mr. Keith Coates’ athletic journey began at Bowie State in 1974. During his football years at Bowie State, Keith Coates received numerous athletic achievements: ALL-State 1977-79, Black College All-Star Game - 1979, Co-Defensive Player of the Year 1979.
Keith Coates was a three time Defensive Player of the Year in Semi-Pro League with the
Metro Bucs and Metro Bulls; MDL Championship 1993, National Champions 93 - Metro Bulls; Fifteen time Semi-Pro All-League Linebacker with the Metro Bucs and Metro Bulls - 1980-1997. Coached Middle School Athletics for 10 years.
Keith community service includes appointment to the Deaconate Board and Evangelistic
Board. Served on the Bethlehem Baptist Social Action Committee. A member of Southern
Referee Association and referee Youth Football.
Keith is currently a Physical Education Teacher with the Prince George’s County Public
Schools and has over 32 years of experience in education. He is a member of the National
Teachers Association and Outstanding Names and Faces. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Keith parents are: Reverend James E. Coates, Pastor Bethlehem Baptist Church, Washington, D.C. and Dr. Sandra P. Coates, retired Educator, DC Public Schools; Wife Deborah J. Coates and children: Sheldon K. Coates, Keith J. Coates, Alana Hawkins, Eril Elam, Sean Elam Sheldon Heard and Tiffany Gordon.
Mr. Kevin Coates earned both his Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education in 1979 and his
Master of Art Degree in Administration in 2007 from Bowie State University.
Mr. Kevin Coates Bowie State athletic career started in 1974 as a member of the Football
team. Over the course of his Football career, Kevin, achieved recognition as one of the
Bowie's best players. Kevin was honored as All State, All NAIA, All CIAA, All Conference, All-District 19, CIAA Player of the Week (three times) - 1978, Selected among the Top 50 Black College Football Players in the Country - 1978, and selected to the First Black College All-Star Game in New Orleans - 1979. Kevin was a Co-Leader of the Team in unassisted tackles, sacks, blocked punts and forced fumbles - 1978. Kevin was also Co-Captain of the BSU Football Team in 1978. Kevin played semi-pro football with Metro Bucs from 1979 to 1993.
He was a three-time All-League Defensive player. In 1993, the Metro Bucs won the National Championship.
Mr. Kevin Coates is currently a Physical Education Teacher with the Prince George’s County Public schools system and has over 34 years of teaching experience.
Kevin community service includes appointment of trustee at Bethlehem Baptist Church in
Washington, DC. In this role he is involved in programs to feed the hungry, cloth and
provide educational opportunities for youth. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alphas Fraternity,
Inc.
Mr. Coate’s parents are the Rev. Dr. James E. Coates and Dr. Sandra P. Coates. Kevin is
married to Adrica Coates and the proud father of three: LaDonya Coates, Kevin Coates II and Branden Coates. Kevin has two Grandchildren, Aaliyah Coates and Kevin Coates III.
Kevin's athletic highlights include: anchoring Bowie State #1 Ranked Defense in the Nation
(1978) Division I, II &III and Retirement of his Jersey Numbers 80 and 81. Proclaimed by the
Head Football Coach, Dr. John Organ, and the BSU President, Dr. Rufus L Barfield, in 1978.
Arlene Creek is the Facilities Coordinator at Bowie State University. Arlene received a
degree in Health, Physical Education & Recreation from Bowie State in 1970 and a Master of Arts in Education Virginia Polytech Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) 1981. She has served as teacher, Guidance Counselor, High School Vice Principal and Supervisor of Transportation with the Prince George’s school System. Arlene has over 40 plus years of experience in education.
During her years as a student with Bowie State, Arlene received numerous awards in volleyball, field hockey, basketball and softball. As a freshman, she was selected as Freshman Female Athlete of the Year. In 1978 won the first Championship for Bowie State College in Women’s Basketball. In 1979 won the second Championship. Sang the National Anthem in 2007 for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
In addition to athletics, Arlene was the SGA Vice President and served as the President of Women’s Recreation Association. In 1978 and 1979, serving as a coach, Bowie State Women’s Basketball won their first championship.
Her community services includes Volunteer Coach for the Laurel High School Basketball Summer League, Volunteer for Special Olympics at James Duckworth Special Center, Support the senior citizens at Mount Sinai Baptist Church financially, participate in the Susan B Komen Race for the Care and Volunteer at the Core Rice and Prince George’s County Policy Christmas Party.
Arlene membership includes the Association of Secondary School Administrators, Mid- Atlantic College Basketball Officials Association, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Life Time Member of the Bowie State University National Alumni Association, Inc.
Mr. Davis earned his Bachelor Degree from West Virginia State University in Elementary
Education, Master of Science Degree (MS) in Physical Education and Supervision & Administration and Education of Science (Ed.S.) from Howard University.
Mr. Davis was a four-year letter winner on the West Virginia State Men’s Basketball Team that set NCAA and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) scoring records in the late 1960’s and early 70’s. A member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Mr. Davis was Head Coach at Bowie State from 1993 to 2000. In eight seasons at Bowie State, he posted an overall record of 171-54 and turned the Bulldogs into one of the top Division II programs in the country. His tenure was highlighted by three Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) championships, three NCAA Tournament appearances and numerous "Coach of the Year" Awards. Although Bowie State posted a record of 6-19 in Davis’ first season, it marked the most wins by the team in four years. The following season (1993-94), Bowie State improved to 14-11, its first winning season in 10 years. From 1995-1999 the Bulldogs posted a remarkable 110-10 record and a CIAA championship "three-peat." Davis teams won 40 consecutive games on their home court from 1995-2000.
Mr. Davis earned a number of awards for his coaching, including CIAA Coach of the Year in
1995 and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association District II Coach of the Year in 1998 and 1999. He was CAA Tournament Outstanding Coach in 1997, 1998 and 1999. Davis community service contribution includes prison ministries and completing a team ramp building for the handicap. Mr. Davis is a member of Black Coaches Association.
Career highlights with Bowie State, Mr. Davis reached his 100th game with Bowie vs. Fayetteville State. He is 30 games shy of reaching his 400th career victory.
Coach Davis is the proud father of three: Daughter, Dr. Artis Lamb of Kansas; Sons, Bryan Davis - Freshman at Arizona State and Jamon Hick of Richmond.
Henry Frazier III was born on March 20, 1968, in Washington, D.C. to Henry Frazier II and
Bessie Harris. He was a four-sport student-athlete at Fairmont Heights High School in Capitol Heights, Md., lettering in football, basketball, baseball and golf. Frazier played quarterback for BSU and went 18-3-1 as a starter. He guided the Bulldogs to the NCAA playoffs in 1988 and the CIAA in 1989.
Mr. Frazier earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1993 and a master’s degree, both from Bowie State University. Following the completion of his master's degree at Bowie State, Frazier was named the head football coach at Bowie State in 1999. In 2001, Frazier led Bowie State to its best season since 1989 with a 7-3 record. Frazier moved the BSU program to another level during the 2002 season with their first-ever CIAA Eastern Division title and CIAA championship game appearance. Continuing the winning tradition in 2003, he guided the Bulldogs to their third consecutive winning season with a second place finish in the CIAA Eastern Division. Frazier’s 26-24 career record at Bowie State currently stands as the most victories by any football coach at BSU.
Frazier spent seven years (2003 – 2010) as head football coach at Prairie View A&M University leading one of the greatest turnarounds in NCAA history. In 2007, the Panthers enjoyed its first winning season since 1976 and Frazier was selected as Coach of the Year by the College Sporting News and the Black College Sports Page. In 2008 Frazier was named the Sheridan Broadcast Network/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year in addition to the American Football Coaches Association Region III FCS Coach of the Year. He also became the first coach from a historically black college or university to receive the Eddie Robinson Award. After leaving PVAMU, Frazier became head football coach at North Carolina Central University 2010 -2012 and led them to their first winning season since 2006 with a 6-5 record in 2012.
Frazier is the proud father of four daughters and one son: Riyan 24, India 22, Tahjai 21,
BriNia 14 & Henry IV 12.
A 1983 graduate of Bowie State University, Clint earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with a
minor in Physical Education. Clint began his athletic career at Bowie State in 1979. He was
co-rookie of the year in 1979 and was Bowie State’s Baseball MVP from 1980-83. He was selected the NAIA All-District 19 Player in 1980 and was named Outstanding District Player. Clint was selected for major league tryouts with the Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburg Pirates.
In 1983, Clint entered and served 22 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a
Master Sergeant in 2005.
Community service and membership includes Assistant Coach of Youth Baseball League, Top Three Non-Commission Officer, Meritorious Service Medal, Commendation Service Medal, Continental Sports Conference Baseball Champions, Selected to Baseball All German/American All-Star Game, and United States Air Force Europe Softball Champions. Clint is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Clint is married to Yolanda and has four adult kids Wesley, James, Ashley and Lakeshia.
Mr. Henry earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a Master of
Education in special Education from Bowie State University. Mr. Henry was the first African American to integrate Buckingham Elementary School as a teacher in Bowie’s Belair Division and in Baltimore’s Hampden Robert Poole Dual School.
David Nicky Henry played Basketball for Bowie State. He was point guard in Bowie’s first win over Morgan State College (University), scoring 10 points. Maintained a 14 point average for three seasons.
Community service includes appointment as Docent for the African American Community of Cambridge, Maryland, Member of the Alumni Association for Mace’s Lane High School, Member of a research team for the history of Harriet Ross/Tubman, Pioneer for and erecting historical markers for the African American Community of Cambridge/Dorchester County, Maryland. Mr. Henry published two volumes of pictorial history about the African American community of Cambridge Maryland. In 1988 Mr. Henry was elected as Teacher of the Year.
David is married to Dorothy and the father of three.

Joe was named the most Valuable Player in Basketball during 1973, 1974, 1976, Division II All American 1974 and 1976, Maryland All State Team 1976, All PIC Conference 1st Team 1973, 1974, 1976, Played in Conference Championship Games - 3 Years at Bowie State, Record Holder - Last Man in America to average 20 points and 20 rebounds a game in a single season in any College Division 1976, Scored 1,744 Points in 4 Year Career at Bowie State, Played for the Allentown Jets, Eastern League, 1977 -1978, Played for the Carabobo Matadors, Caracas, Venezuela, 1977 – 1979, Hall of Fame, Forest Park High School, Most Valuable Player, Baltimore High School All Star Game 1972. Played in Conference Championship games 3 years at Bowie. Once scored 33 points and hauled down 30 rebounds in a single game vs Federal City College - 1976. Scored 40 points vs George Mason - 1973.

Athletic achievements and recognitions include, Baltimore Sun's All Star Team Selection, Quarterback Honorable Mention 1975 and 1976, First Bowie State Quarterback to Pass for over 700 yards and rush for over 300 years in a single season – 1975, First Bowie State Quarterback to lead team to a nine win and one loss season, Passed for over 300 yards, 26 Completions vs Towson – 1976, Record - Longest Pass and Run from scrimmage 86 Yard Touchdown - Mitchell to McCollough vs Hampton. Ricardo is married to Bonita D.S. Mitchell and the proud father of three adult children: Julius A. Valentine, Jock R. Mitchell and Jade Renee Mitchell, Daughter-In-Laws: Amanda Valentine and Leticia Moore Mitchell. Grandchildren: Lanaya Valentine, Tavio Valentine, and Mila Mitchell.
Mr. Mollock earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Art Education in 1972 from
Bowie State University and a Master of Art in Education from Towson State University in
1985. Mr. Mollock is a retired Art Teacher of Edgewood Senior High School in Edgewood
Maryland.
Athletic achievements include member of the 1969 Track and Field Team, participated in the 100 yard dash, 440 run, 440 relay, mile run, mile relay, 220 yard dash, long jump and the hop, skip and jump. Member of the 4 x 100 relay team that was invited to the Penn Relays. Lead scorer for the 1969 Track and Field Season. The only member of the 1969 Track and Field Team to receive both a Letter and a Trophy in a single season.
Community service and organization includes Baltimore Chapter Alumni Association, Inc. President (served as Vice President and Secretary). Bowie State University National Alumni Association, Inc. Life Member, Griot’s Circle of Maryland, Inc., President, Vice President and Secretary, Member of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. and Member of the Buffalo Soldiers 9th and 10th (Horse) Calvary Association Baltimore Metropolitan Chapter (Trooper Clarence B. Mollock). Co-Author to The Soul of a Man: A Triumph of my Soul Anthology which won the 2009 African American Literary Award for the Best Anthology. Mr. Mollock is contributor to The 20th Anniversary Issue of DRUMVOICES REVUE #17.
Highlights include running the last leg of a 440 relay race: "When I got the baton my opponent was running into the first part of the curve. When my opponent was half through the curve I was beside him. When my opponent came out of the curve I was busting tape for the win! Coach Burns told me that when I got my baton it looked like my opponent "just stopped running". On the back stretch of a 440 run all runners were bunched up. I was told that the announcer exclaimed: "AND IT LOOKS LIKE HE’S SLOWING DOWN, BUT HE’S PASSING EVERYONE! YOU CAN’T DO THAT, BUT HE’S DOING IT!" When I finished the race the closest person behind me was just coming out of the last curve.
Mr. Mollock has two sons, Clarence Brandon Mollock and Michael Aaron Mollock and
Grandchildren (C. Brandon Mollock): Allison and Olivia Mollock.
In 1993 earned a Bachelor of Science in Sociology/Criminal Justice and in 1995 a Master of
Education in Guidance and Counseling, both from Bowie State University. Currently, John serves as the Assistant Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator at Morgan State University.
John’s athletic career began in 1989. He was a member of Bowie State’s CIAA conference champion team in 1989, he holds the record for Most Tackles in a season with 133 in 1992, All-Rookie Team in 1989 and Second Team ALL-CIAA in 1992.
Community Service includes serving as Youth Advocate, mentoring at risk youth. As the Head Football Coach at Fort Valley State University, John served as the President of the SIAC Coaches Association and a member of the Division II Southeast Regional Advisory Committee for Football. John’s memberships and honors also include the American Football Coaches Association and the Black Coaches Association. In 2011, John was chosen as a Participant in the NCAA Expert Forum, and in 2006 he participated in the NCAA Advance Coaches Academy.
A few of the his career highlights at Bowie State University include, while working as the Defensive Coordinator at Bowie State University the Bulldogs ranked 1st in the nation in pass efficiency defense, 6th in total defense and 10th in scoring defense in 2001, in 2002 they ranked second in the nation in total defense and 5th in scoring defense. Another career highlight includes coaching the 2001 & 2002 All-CIAA defensive first team honoree, Charles Alston. Alston was honored by the NCAA Hall of Fame for being the only player in NCAA history to play in a football and basketball game on the same day.
John is married to the former Tisa Sims and father of three. John is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
Earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Management in May of 1989, earned an Associate in Business Administration in Secretarial Science, Information Processing in September of 1984 at Strayer University. Sam is the owner of The Muse Group, Professional Sales, Promotion, Business Development and Distribution Services. His company was recognized for outstanding sales and commitment by Natural Hair Care Product Company in 2006, 2007, and earned a position of Founding Director in 2008.
Athletic achievements and honors include BSU Defensive Player of the Year in 1986-1987, Defensive Player of the Week, CIAA Defensive Back of the week September 1987, CIAA Honorable Mention October 1987, CIAA Honorable Mention October 1987 for outstanding performances, awarded by the Bowie State University United States Army Reserve Officers Training Corps Department for Outstanding Leadership in 1987-1988 (Courage, Integrity, Loyalty, & Dependability). Voted team captain in 1986-1988, ranked third in the Nation in interceptions among NCAA Division II Defensive Backs with eight interceptions in 1988 and ranked seventh in the Nation among NCAA Division II Defensive backs with seven interceptions in 1987 and Awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by Bowie State University Department of Business Administration, Public Administration and Economics for Outstanding Leadership and Service to the department May 1, 1989. Sam agreed to join the Canadian Football League's Hamilton Tiger Cats in 1989 participating in training camp becoming a fan favorite for his aggressive style of play and interception return for a touchdown during the final pre-season game, Signed with the Pittsburgh Gladiators now the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League in 1989. Mr. Muse was assigned in 1992 to the Washington Marauders of the Professional Spring Football League. Voted Defensive Rookie of the year in 1991 with the Semi-Professional Mason Dixon Football League's District of Columbia Stonewalls and in 1995, he retired with the Central Pennsylvania Piranha's of the Mason Dixon semi- professional football league.
Sam gives back to Bowie State University. He served as mentor to Bowie State's athletes Delante White, 2011-2013 CIAA second team, All-Conference, Defensive Back, Darius Clair, 2011-2013 steady performer and big play Defensive back, as well as Horatio Cannon,
1995-1997 who averaged the highest interception return yards in the history of NCAA
Division II football with a 44.7 yards per return totaling 6 for 268 yards. In addition, he has engineered a distribution network using electronic mail successfully communicating with BSU alumni the successes, accomplishments and achievements of past and present students. He's currently mentoring high school student athletes who express an interest in attending Bowie State University and member of Good Brothers, Inc.
The CEO of Stewart Financial Services earned a Bachelor of Science in Business
Administration Management in 1985 from Bowie State University. Mr. Stewart has served as Board Room Member at the American Classic Agency for 13 consecutive years. While partnered with American Classic Agency over the last 16 years, Mr. Stewart’s team has produced over $18 million in business.
Mr. Stewart’s athletic career began in 1968 in Little League Baseball. In 1982 The BSU Baseball Team won the CIAA and was the 1st Baseball Team to beat Norfolk State University, his career batting average was .340, He was Team captain in 1983 and helped lead the 1st winning team beginning in 1980.
Community service includes member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity- 1988, Keeper of Peace- 1989, Corporate Few of Xerox- 1988-1990, Reid Temple AME Church Greeters Ministry- one year, and Reid Temple AME Church Men’s Choir- 20 years.
Mr. Stewart Co-Authored Saving Middle America -Securing Financial Dreams, Leads more than 150 Financial Service Professionals, and has been the American Classic Excellence Award recipient four of the last five years.
Mr. Stewart is married to Sharon and the father of three. His oldest daughter is currently a Bowie State University freshman.
Robert Strother, Jr. attended Bowie State College/University from 1965 to 1969 earning a
degree in Anthropology/Sociology. In 1994 Mr. Strother earned a Master of Arts in
Administrative Management.
Athletic achievements include Lettered in Men's Basketball; Lead the Men's Basketball Team in scoring 2 of 4 Years, Co-Captain of the Men's Basketball Team – 1969 and Recognized as one of the Metropolitan Areas Top Ten Leading Scorers in Area Colleges/Universities - Washington Post.
Mr. Strother community service and organizations contributions are Lifetime Member NAACP, Lifetime Member BSUNAA, Treasurer, BSU Southern Alumni Chapter, Vice President and Membership Chair for the BSU Athletic Boosters Club, Member of the BSU Athletic Fundraising Committee and Member Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity – 1969.

Robert is married to Pinkie M. Strother (BSU 1973), father of adult children: Stroria S. Davis and Spencer S. Strother (BSU 2003) and Grandson: Emmett H. Strother.

Ms. Winstead earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, concentration in Finance in 2000. She was a member of Delta Mu Delta National Business Honor Society. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Maryland, Francis Carey King School of Law in 2008.
Ms. Winstead’s athletic career began at Bowie State in 1996. She was All-Conference player in 1998-2000. She was named All Conference, All Regional, and All-Tournament Team Selections during her BSU tenure. Additionally, Ms. Winstead was named Most Valuable Player (MVP), All-Tournament Player, Athletic and Academic All-State. She was a member of the 1997, 1998, and 1999 CIAA Championship Teams.
Community service organizations include Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Board Member (Central Maryland) 2013 to present, The William E. Proudford Sickle Cell Fund, Inc. Advisory Board Member 2013 to present. Professional affiliations include the American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association, Member of Small Business CEO and Member of Abundant Society. Awards and Honors include Smart CEO’s Legal Elite Recipient in 2012, Recipient of Dean’s Award from the University of Maryland in 2008.
Currently, Ms. Winstead serves as the Director of Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at the University of Maryland, Carey School of Law. Additionally she is a Professor at the University of Maryland, Carey School of Law. She is the owner of the Law Office of Beverly Winstead, LLC and Winstead Tax Group, LLC.
Ms. Beverly Winstead is the proud daughter of Dr. Rachel Obie-Winstead and the late Lewis Winstead.
Ms. Winstead enjoys playing basketball, flag football, golf and cooking.
Mr. Zackery currently holds the position of Counselor with the Prince George's County Public School System under Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection. In 1990 Zackery earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications.
The athletic career began in 1986. Mr. Zackery played on the CIAA Championship team in
1989. Was Special Team Player of the Year, Coke Cola Special Team player in three games and most blocks, kicks and punts in a season and game. He also was a member of the University's Track team.
Mr. Zackery is the founder of Zack Sports and Jesus of Nazareth Academy. Has worked with U.S. Copyright as a Manager, U.S. Army Chemical Specialist, and U.S. Federal Police for the Library of Congress. He's the Academic Advisor for Suitland High School Football Team, Coach/Advisor for Gwynn Park High School Football Team and was recently selected to work with the NFL Combine and High School Player Development. Achievements include Physical Fit in Training for the Army and Police. Mr. Zackery honors and awards include Mentor Program of the Year, Coach of the Year, Public Speaker for the Youth, Several Youth and High School Championship teams in Basketball and Football, Security Team for Church and Park & Recreation, Youth Advocate and Darren Swain Team for District 24.
Mr. Zackery is the father of Zion Zackery, son of Robert and Mattie Zackery, and brother of
Bowie St. alumnus Dwayne Zackery.
